The Swede is a character in Our Flag Means Death played by Nat Faxon.
Physical Appearance[]
The Swede is a Caucasian man, judging by his name he is of Scandinavian descent. He has long blond hair and wears a blue-and-white band on his head. He's missing some teeth which he lost after getting scurvy.
Personality[]
The Swede is often childlike in being both sweet to people and quite naive. He is a very good singer.
History[]
The Swede claims that on the day he was born, the rain looked just like blood.
He is a member of Stede Bonnet's crew, sailing aboard the Revenge. He takes part in Stede's fuckery, during which he sings a song so beautiful he is later called an angel. At one point he develops scurvy due to not getting enough vitamins, leading to him losing some fingernails and teeth. When Stede abandons Blackbeard, the latter strands the Swede along with most of the crew on a desert island.
They survive thanks to Stede coming to their rescue and move to the Republic of Pirates where they find work at Spanish Jackie's. The Swede gets involved with - and later married to - Spanish Jackie. Despite being very happy in his marriage, he helps the crew steal a treasure chest from his new wife, claiming he owes them a life debt. Jackie forgives him for this trespassing - which she actually finds hot - and the Swede stays with her on the boat when they all leave with Zheng Yi Sao and Captain Frenchie.
